Volleyball and Volunteering

Each year a team of cadets from the squadron compete against other teams from across the wing in the Durham Northumberland Wing Air Cadets volleyball completion. A tough, tournament style competition with multiple stages, the teams compete against one another until one team is victorious. Training for the competition will start in the coming months.

Volunteering within the air cadets takes a variety of forms, including litter picks and collections, for both ourselves and other charities. It can also be used as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Volunteering within the DofE is about giving up time to help others, the community, environment or animals. Within the squadron cadets have completed litter picking, helping in charity shops, training animals and raising money for charities as part of their volunteering projects, as well as planning charity events. Participants need to average an hour a week for the duration of the programme which will be between 3 and 12 months depending upon the level. Each year, cadets from around the country join forces with thousands of other volunteers to raise money for the Royal British Legion as part of the Poppy Appeal, the RAF Association as part of the wings appeal and many other worthy causes.
