Wing Activity Centre and Winners!

The Durham Northumberland Wing Air Cadets Wing Activity Centre (WAC), located at our wing headquarters in Gosforth, is a brand new facility available for squadrons throughout the wing to utilise. The WAC provides squadrons with the resources to run “out of the box activities” and like many other squadrons, we have already made full use of the centre. The centre is split into multiple rooms, with the ability to run several different concurrent activities, including: the flight simulators in the aerospace suite; MTA STEM kits; UHF Radios in the cyber, communications and conference suite; an archery range; a live fire range; and STEM workshop. The centre can also be used as a general training space for courses and training. A huge Thank You to the WAC team who made the facilities possible, as well as the funding providers who supported the development of the Wing Activity Centre.

Each year the squadron holds an awards evening, presenting cadets with a selection of certificates and badges, as well as presenting the squadrons annual awards. This year, we welcomed Squadron Leader Houghton, Sector Commander South, to present the awards. The following annual awards were presented for 2019:

Sports Award – FS Riley
Shooting Award – Cpl Bell
Fundraiser Award – Cdt Baker
Academic Award – Cdt White
Attendance Award – FS Riley
Uniform Award – Cdt Stewart
Best New Recruit – Cdt Barstead
Most Improved Cadet – Cdt Brown
Top Gun Award – Cdt Bosworth
Best All Round Cadet – Cdt Tanner

Well done to all of the award recipients!
